Gold Tremissis (third of a penny) (788-792). (1,23 g)
Very rare. Superb.
The first monetary issues of the Lombard duchy of Benevento were anonymous, but under Gisulf I (689-706), the duke's initial appeared on the coin. It was not until Grimoald III that the sovereign's name was written in full.
