The satyr is a creature of Greek mythology. Satyrs, associated with the feminine Maenads, form the "Dionysian procession", which accompanies the god Dionysus. They were originally depicted as anthropomorphic creatures with horse legs and horse ears, often ithyphallic, before being either de-bestialized or transformed into half-human hybrids.
