Un Franc en carton 1870 (0.57 g)
Rare. Superb.
For three months, Langres succeeded in hindering the Germans' march, to such an extent that the latter ordered the town to be taken three times. Langres only surrendered when the armistice was declared on January 28, 1871. A decree issued by the Government of National Defense on December 3, 1870 allowed the creation of an obsidional currency, redeemable after the war. This led to the creation of 50, 20 and 10-franc banknotes, and cardboard tokens of
of 5, 2 and 1 francs.
