Aedui. The Aedui were settled in the present-day French départements of Nièvre and Saône-et-Loire, as well as in the south of Côte-d'Or (corresponding roughly to the arrondissement of Beaune) and the east of Allier. Bibracte was their capital. They had access to the rich lands of the western part of the Saône plain. Their neighbors and enemies were the Sequanes to the northeast and the Arvernes to the southwest. The Lingons were their allies to the north.
