Bronze "in the name of Aulus Hirtius*". (2,44 g)
Off-center reverse. Rare. Very fine/T.B.
*This bronze is in the name of Aulus Hirtius Imperator, ruler of Gaul in 45 BC. Its attribution remains uncertain: Rèmes or Carnutes, or even the Paris region.
Remi. The Rèmes, their name means "the first". Gallic people who gave their name to the city of Reims. They occupied the Champagne-Ardenne region, more precisely what are today the departments of Marne and Ardennes. The peoples surrounding the Rèmes were the Nerviens to the north, the Viromanduens and Suessions to the west, the Tricasses to the south, and the Leuces, Trevires and Mediomatrici to the east.
