Ruteni. The Rutènes were a people of Celtic Gaul in the southern Massif Central. Their territory stretched roughly across the present-day departments of Tarn and Aveyron, bounded by the Aubrac plateau to the north and the confines of the Montagne Noire to the south. The Rutènes gave their name to the town of Rodez.
