REGNI reign of *TINCOMARUS Isle of Brittany 25 - 10 - Lot 135
REGNI reign of *TINCOMARUS Isle of Brittany 25 - 10 Globule within a wreath of foliage. R/. Horse standing right. ♦ Mack 47 81. Van Arsdell 3661; Rudd 1094 Reddish gold quarter statere (1.00 g). Rare. Very fine. *Tincomarus. Name of one of the Atrébates kings. He seems to have lived in central southern Britain, shortly before the Roman invasion of Britain. He was the son and heir of Commius and succeeded his father around 25-20 BC. Based on the distribution of coins found, it is possible that Tincomarus ruled in collaboration with his father during the latter's last years.
