Anthropomorphic amphora with geometric decoration. Hollow ceramic with glazed surface. Height: 42 cm - Diameter: 15 cm. Nariño culture, Capuli, ca. 850-1500 A.D. Colombia. Accents and restorations. Ovoid form with cylindrical neck featuring a finely carved and incised human head. The face, taken from a rectangle forming the headdress, features a long, straight nose and rounded chin, with cheeks made up in red. The circular neck has a widened rim. Beautiful stylized geometric motifs on the sides of the vessel. Acquired at the sale of 13 or 18/03/1995 at Hôtel Drouot, lot n°169, expert M. Blazy.
