*Louis XIV "le Roi-Soleil" was born on September 5, 1638 at the Château Neuf de Saint-Germain-en-Laye and died on September 1, 1715 at Versailles. Born Louis, nicknamed Dieudonné, he came to the throne of France on the death of his father, Louis XIII, a few months before his fifth birthday, making him one of the youngest kings of France. He thus became the 64th King of France, the 44th King of Navarre and the third King of France from the Bourbon dynasty. His long reign will allow us to follow the evolution of the monarch's portrait between 1643 and 1715, from age 5 to 77, and the effects of age and illness.
