Paul CUVELIER Exceptional set of 15 preparatory drawings and sketches from the author's archives. Presented in a black folder under transparencies. List of drawings: - Pencil and India ink on tracing paper for a beautiful study of Corentin, see plate 40 (page 42), from the album le Poignard Magique (published in 1963). - Pencil on tracing paper for 4 boxes, 3 on the front, 1 on the back, showing the characters of Beelzebub the gorilla, Corentin, Kim, and a character who closely resembles the Sire de Saint-Malo from Le Poignard Magique, which would place these boxes in an intermediate research period between volumes 3 and 4 of the series, Corentin chez les Peaux-Rouges and Le Signe du Cobra, between the years 1956 and 1963. - Pencil on tracing paper for studies of the Sire de Saint-Malo and an unidentified young woman. See plate 3 (page 5), from the episode "Le poignard Magique" ("The Magic Dagger"). - Woman on horseback: drawing from the Mons workshop period - Pencil sketch on tracing paper: couples of women. Late Mons workshop, early Brussels period, linked to projects for large compositions that never came to fruition. - Large full-page horse study in Indian ink, dating from Cuvelier's early years, around 17 or 18, before the '50s. - Studies on tracing paper in Indian ink (3 horses and a topless woman): Corentin chez les Peaux Rouges or Tom Colby period, Cuvelier's early years with the "Tintin" newspaper. - 8 sheets of horse studies, one of which (one of two ochre horses) bears Cuvelier's engraved header on the back, with address in Mons.)
