The set is preserved in its original case, designed to hold the various pieces. The exterior is covered with paper coated with brick-red paint, enhanced with golden floral motifs. The interior, lined with white silk, is compartmentalized to adapt to the shape of each piece. This type of case is typical of 19th-century jewelry boxes.
An inscription "J.T.C" hand-painted in gold on the red lining probably corresponds to the owner's initials. Possibly for Julie Thérèse de Courtenay.
The choker has been modified, as the pear-shaped pendant no longer fits properly into the case. This is an imperfect fit and may correspond to a later modification of this pendant or of the necklace itself.
The brooch mounting was identically redone after the creation of the set.
